How to Get a Learner's Permit in Pakistan
Obtaining a learner’s permit is the first step towards getting a full driving license in Pakistan. Here’s a detailed guide on how to get a learner’s permit:
Learner permits are issued on a daily basis with a validity of 6 months. When applying for a learner permit, make sure to get a Highway Code Book of traffic rules and regulations. Once you have obtained your learner permit, you can apply for a driving license after the date given.
There are two ways to get a learner permit:
Manual:
Required Documents: Gather the following documents:
- Original CNIC along with a copy of CNIC.
- Ticket of Rs. 60 for each category (issued by General Post Office and Learner’s Permit Office).
- Medical certificate (issued by an authorized medical practitioner).
Visit the Post Office: Visit your nearest post office for further details and to obtain the learner permit application form.
Fill Out the Form: Complete the form with accurate details and attach the required documents.
Submit the Application: Submit the completed form and documents at the Learner’s Permit Office.
Receive the Permit: Once processed, you will receive your learner permit.
Online:
Sign Up on DLIMS: Go to the DLIMS platform and sign up by providing your name, CNIC, and other necessary details.
Complete the Registration: Once registered, you’ll land on your account’s main page.
New Learner Application: Click on the “+ New Learner” button located at the top right corner.
Fill Out Personal Information: Complete the license application by providing your personal information and address details.
Choose License Category: Select the license category you are applying for.
Upload Documents: Upload necessary documents such as your picture, CNIC’s front & back images, and a medical certificate (if you are above 50 years old).
Payment Slip ID: A payment slip ID (PSID Number) will be generated. Use this number to pay for the learner’s license.
Pay the Fee: Pay the learner’s driving license fee through ATM, online banking, or mobile banking (Jazzcash, EasyPaisa, etc.) channels using the PSID number.
Print the Permit: After making payment, go to ‘Applications’ on the DLIMS website, and you will see that the payment status shows ‘Paid’. To view and print your Learner License, click on the print icon under the Action option.
By following these steps, you can obtain your learner’s permit and begin your journey towards becoming a licensed driver in Pakistan.
